Today was one of those “fmylife.com” days.
I was supposed to have a Health Psychology presentation today that I was WAY nervous about because the teacher is still scary and mean (hahaha how old am I?) So anyway I was up ALL night stressing about the stupid presentation (in HS and freshman year of college I LIKED giving presentations…what happened?!), got up finished it up, printed what I needed to and rushed to class in a hurry (without a shower). I was freaking out so badly that I was beginning to hyperventilate and cry on the way as Bridget and I walked to our classes.
So we start heading up the stairs in Herringham and as we almost reach the first floor landing the fire alarm goes off. “There you go!” Bridget said encouragingly. “NOOOO this is NOT helping the situation!” I exclaimed. So out of the school we went as the first ambulance pulled up. And then the fire truck. And then the second ambulance. What was going on?!?!
We finally got the word that we could go back in and they made us take a different staircase because the paramedics were with a patient on the first staircase. So I make my way up, say bye to Bridget as she wishes me luck and get to my classroom to find that the ENTIRE room was flooded!
So I go and find my class standing in the hallway waiting to see if we could get another classroom for presentations. As we are waiting by the first stair case now, we can see the maintenance guy with the paramedics but still had no idea what happened. They get him into the elevator and we make our way down the stairs to a classroom in Darwin that the teacher had found so that we could start presentations. Already late at this point, we wait for the teacher who was still not there. “Where was she? She told us to come here,” I thought. Well apparently the electricity went out and people got stuck in the elevator in Herringham which is why she was even later.
So here is what happened: a pipe burst flooding all of the classrooms. As the maintenance guy was trying to fix the water pipe he had a seizure and the ambulance came. In the middle of that, the fire alarm went off. Then the main part of the school lost electricity for a while and people got stuck in the elevator….
…And I didn’t even end up presenting today….FUCK MY LIFE!
So anyway, I talked to the teacher after class about my progress in her class, etc. trying to make myself feel better and see what I needed to do between now and finals, if anything to make sure I do well, etc. Her response was that she is, “very happy with me.” YEA! My hard work IS paying off despite the challenge it presents!
So anyway, I had asked Bridget to go to “Abs Blitz” with me after my classes today. It was free in the dance studio and I figured I could use some stress-relieving exercise. And I mean, c’mon…it sounds like a great workout doesn’t it? “Abs Blitz.” It’s BLITZING your abs! So we went and it was a KICK-ASS workout! Really intense and I definitely feel my abs and it is just great and it is FREE (none of the other workout classes or the gym is!) so we both decided we would be going back the Tuesday we get back from Spring Break (2 more days until Spring Break, THANK GOD!!!)
After the workout we grabbed lunch and I came back here MUCH in need of a shower since I was all sweaty and gross after exercising and I have to go to a musical tonight for class. This is when I learn that there is no hot water in the school until further notice….FUCK MY LIFE!
Now to be truthful, my day was not bad at all. In fact, it was quite comical and interesting and who doesn’t love things to be shaken up during midterms? I realize that I could have had worse “fuck my life moments.” For example, I could have been the person seizing or I could have been under the pipe when it burst, or I could have been IN the shower when it all suddenly turned cold….
So I will remain dirty until I can do something about it, rehearse my presentation a few more times and in general count my blessings ‘cause things could ALWAYS be a lot worse! =)
